Kill The Pics & Pretty Vacant

In white on fluorescent pink, Martijn Sandberg translates the notorious slogan 'Kill The Pigs' into a critical statement on the authenticity of visual art. The subtle change in text is emphasized by the shift from handwriting on the wall to drawing letters with his finger in wet paint on aluminium canvas; from social criticism to the language of 'pics' - pictures and pixels.
'Pretty Vacant' consists of a light greenish phosphorescent figuration on a white aluminium panel. The text 'We're Pretty Vacant' refers to a Sex Pistols song.
After illumination, the loaded sentence glows in the dark and then slowly fades until it is 'empty' again; zero content.
