Van Hier Naar Daar Martijn Sandberg has designed a site-specific artwork for the bridge at the Sint Lucas straat in the Bangert & Oosterpolder district, municipality of Hoorn. A bridge from here to there A bridge links one side with the other side; this side with the opposite side. Via a bridge we go back and forth from one side to the other, time and time again. Over the bridge we traverse the distance between one side and the other side - in space and time. From far and near letters become visible in the pattern of the metal rails: 'From here to there'. The figuration 'From Here To There' is visualised in a series free-standing steel columns in sequence, rotated positioned, and taking up the whole railing in its totality on both sides of the bridge. The design and the sequence of the words chosen are constructed in such a way as to make the three dimensional figuration appear in the railing from various viewing angles, at the inside and the outside of the bridge as well, if we look at the bridge from a distance. The sentence 'From Here To There' emerges from the railing with letters in relief in the reading direction left to right - but also from right to left, when the words are read in combination from one side to the other side of the bridge.
